Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's softened but not melted.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Add-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolate for added flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, dissolve the baking soda in a small amount of hot water and add this mixture to the cookie batter along with the salt.
  • Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are nicely browned.
  • Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag or container.
