Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Add-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips You can use dark or white chocolate chips for different flavors.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, dissolve the baking soda in a small amount of hot water and add this to the butter mixture along with the salt.
  • Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour and chocolate chips until everything is well combined.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edges are nicely browned.
  • Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Cookies are best served warm. Pair with a glass of cold milk or enjoy as an ice cream sandwich. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
