Ingredients
- Patty Melts:
- 1½ pounds ground beef,
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce,
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt,
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper,
- 12 slices sourdough bread,
- ½ cup Secret Sauce,
- 3 medium Vidalia onions (thinly sliced),
- 6 slices Cheddar cheese,
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter.
- Secret Sauce:
- ¼ cup Dijon mustard,
- ¼ cup mayonnaise,
- 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce,
- ½ teaspoon hot sauce.
Directions
- Mix ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 6 patties.
- Cook patties in a skillet over medium heat to desired doneness. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, cook the onions until caramelized.
- Prepare the secret sauce by combining mustard, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Spread secret sauce on the non-buttered side.
- On the sauced side, layer a cheese slice, beef patty, caramelized onions, and another cheese slice. Top with another bread slice, sauce side down.
- Cook the sandwich in the skillet until golden brown, flipping once.
