Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

For the Gravy

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, finely chopped onion, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, and allspice until fully combined.
  • Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Cooking

  • Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the meatballs until browned on all sides, approximately 5-7 minutes. Once browned, remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Gradually add the beef broth, whisking continuously until the mixture comes to a simmer. Allow it to cook until thickened.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet. Cook until the meatballs are heated through, about 5 more minutes.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use freshly ground spices and avoid overcrowding the skillet while cooking the meatballs. Adjust the thickness of the gravy to your liking by adding more beef broth or cream if needed.
