Ingredients
  

Sloppy Joe Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef Ensure to drain excess fat after cooking.
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust the seasonings to your taste.

Grilled Cheese Assembly

  • 8 slices hearty bread (Texas toast or sourdough) You can use any hearty bread.
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Mix up the cheeses for different flavor.

Instructions
 

Prepare Sloppy Joe Filling

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.

Assemble and Grill

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on a skillet or griddle.
  • Top each slice with 1/4 cup shredded cheddar, a scoop of the Sloppy Joe mixture, and more cheddar.
  • Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up.
  • Grill over medium heat until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  • Slice and serve hot for ultimate cheesy satisfaction.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within a couple of days. Reheat in a skillet.
