Ingredients
  

For the crust and topping

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour

For the filling

  • 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (about 3 medium) Firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended.
  • 1 2 salted caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Add the flour to the mixture and stir until crumbly.
  • Press about two-thirds of the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  • In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Spread the apple mixture over the crust in the pan.
  • Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the apples.
  • Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top.

Baking

  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.

Notes

Serve bars warm or at room temperature. Drizzle with additional salted caramel sauce and pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for about a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
