Frosting Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (well softened) Make sure your butter is at room temperature for easier blending.
  • 8 ounces pumpkin flavored cream cheese (about 1 cup) Regular cream cheese can be used with added pumpkin puree and spices.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 4-5 cups powdered sugar Adjust according to desired sweetness and consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Add half of the pumpkin-flavored cream cheese and continue to beat until it is fully incorporated and smooth.
  • Add the remaining cream cheese, along with vanilla extract and sea salt.
  • Mix in 2 cups of powdered sugar, blending until the mixture is smooth.
  • Gradually add an additional 2 cups of powdered sugar, blending until no powder remains.
  • Check the consistency of the frosting. If it is too soft, add more powdered sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired thickness.
  • Once finished, store any baked goods topped with this frosting in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve.

Notes

For a festive touch, consider topping your frosted treats with crumbled ginger snaps or toasted pecans. Store frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to three months.
