Preparation

  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.
  • Mix the Butters and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined. If desired, fold in chocolate chips or nuts at this stage.
  • Shape the Cookies: Using your hands, form the dough into small pin shapes, about 2 inches long.

Baking

  • Bake: Place the shaped cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden.
