  • 1 pound flank steak Thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup scallions or bell peppers, sliced
  • to taste chili (optional, for extra heat)

Preparation

  • Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain and coat it with cornstarch.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and optional chili.

Cooking

  • Heat a pan over medium-high heat and stir-fry the coated flank steak until it’s cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the sauce to the pan with the steak and toss to coat evenly.
  • Stir in the scallions or bell peppers and stir-fry for an additional minute until they are just tender.

Serving

  • Serve hot over warm rice or noodles, and enjoy your meal!

Notes

For extra flavor, let the sliced beef marinate in the soy sauce mixture for 15-30 minutes before frying. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and stir it into the sauce during the last minute of cooking. Feel free to add broccoli, snap peas, or carrots for extra crunch.
