Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Water (as needed) water Add gradually to form a soft dough.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup minced meat (chicken, beef, or pork) or finely chopped vegetables Choose your preferred filling.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • Fresh cilantro (optional) fresh cilantro, chopped For garnish

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water, kneading until you form a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the minced meat or vegetables, onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, black pepper, cumin, and cilantro until well combined.

Shaping and Cooking

  • Divide the rested dough into small balls. Roll each ball out into a thin circle.
  • Place a spoonful of filling in the center, dampen the edges with water, and fold the dough over to seal, creating a pleated shape.
  • Place the momos in a steamer lined with parchment paper. Steam for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.

Serving

  • Enjoy your freshly steamed momos with a dipping sauce of your choice.

Notes

Momos are best served hot, garnished with fresh cilantro. You can experiment with fillings and serve with various dips.
