Dough Ingredients

  • 500 ml warm milk Use warm, not hot, milk
  • 7 g dry yeast Ensure yeast is fresh
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 60 ml oil
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 750 g flour Bread flour recommended for better texture
  • 50 g butter Melted

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine warm milk and dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • In another bowl, mix the brown sugar, oil, vinegar, salt, and eggs.
  • Add the yeast mixture to the bowl and stir to combine.
  • Gradually add the flour while mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Add melted butter and knead until fully incorporated.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).

Baking

  • Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  • Let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the brioche for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let it cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or freeze sliced for longer storage. Thaw at room temperature or warm in the oven before serving. You can add chocolate chips, dried fruit, or nuts for variations.
