Ingredients
  

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  • 16 pieces String cheese (halved crosswise)
  • 1/3 cup Plain flour With a pinch of salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian breadcrumbs Combined with chopped parsley
  • 2 large Eggs Whisked
  • 2 teaspoons Milk For egg mixture
  • as desired Salt and pepper To taste
  • as needed Oil For frying
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped For coating
  • 1 cup Marinara sauce For dipping

Preparation

  • Cut the string cheese in half crosswise, creating 32 pieces.
  • Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for the egg mixture, and one for the breadcrumb mixture.

Breading

  • Coat each piece of cheese in the flour, shaking off the excess.
  • Dip it into the egg mixture.
  • Finally, coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

Cooking

  • Heat enough oil in a large skillet over medium heat to cover the bottom.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully place the breaded cheese sticks in the skillet.
  • Fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  • Remove and set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve the healthy mozzarella sticks warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

To store leftovers, place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze them for longer storage. Reheat in an oven or air fryer.
