Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 400 grams Plain flour For the dumpling wrappers
  • 200 mls Warm water To mix with flour for dough

Filling Ingredients

  • 400 grams Chicken mince Main filling ingredient
  • 300 grams White onions Finely chopped or grated
  • 10 stalks Fresh coriander Finely chopped, for flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger paste For adding spice
  • 2 teaspoons Salt To taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper To taste
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil For the filling
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce For flavoring the filling
  • 2 Green chilies Finely chopped For added spice

Thickening Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Cornflour Mixed with 6 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

Making the Dough

  • In a big bowl, combine the plain flour and warm water. Knead until you have a smooth dough.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Preparing the Filling

  • In another bowl, mix the chicken mince, finely chopped onions, chopped coriander, ginger paste, salt, black pepper, vegetable oil, soy sauce, and green chilies. Make sure everything is well combined.

Making the Momo Wrappers

  • After resting, divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into thin circles on a floured surface.

Filling and Shaping Momos

  • Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each wrapper. Fold the wrapper over, pinching the edges to seal and create a pleated shape.
  • Ensure there are no air pockets.

Steaming the Dumplings

  • Place the shaped momos in a steamer and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure they are spaced apart to prevent sticking.

Serving the Momo

  • Once steamed, serve the momos hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as chili sauce or soy sauce.

Notes

You can store uncooked momos in the freezer. Place them on a tray to freeze individually, and then transfer them to a freezer bag. When ready to cook, steam them directly from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the cooking time.
