Ingredients
  

Pie Crust

  • 1 whole unbaked pie crust Use your favorite recipe or store-bought crust.

Custard Filling

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg For the filling
  • 3 cups whole milk (room temperature)
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (for garnish)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
  • Add in the vanilla and nutmeg, mixing well to combine.
  • Gradually stir in the milk until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
  • Pour the custard mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg on top for garnish.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C) and continue to bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow the pie to cool before serving.

Notes

To serve custard pie, slice it into wedges and present it on a beautiful dessert plate. It can be enjoyed on its own or accompanied by whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. A sprinkle of cinnamon or additional nutmeg can enhance the presentation and flavor.
