  • 4 pieces Chicken cutlets Tender and ready to cook.
  • 1/2 cup Flour For dredging the chicken.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Unsalted butter for cooking.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces Mushrooms, sliced Any type of mushrooms; mixed types for complex flavor.
  • 1 cup Chicken broth Low sodium recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh herbs (such as parsley or thyme) Chopped, for freshness.
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (optional) For a cheesy flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.

Instructions
 

Cooking the chicken

  • Lightly dredge the chicken cutlets in flour to ensure a light coating.
  • In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat until melted.
  • Add the chicken cutlets and sear until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Making the sauce

  • In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms are tender.
  • Pour in chicken broth, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard, stirring to combine.
  • Allow the sauce to simmer and thicken slightly for about 5 minutes.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet, coating it well with the sauce.
  • Stir in fresh herbs and Parmesan cheese if desired.

Serving

  • Serve over mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, or with roasted vegetables.

Notes

For best results, consider marinating the chicken cutlets in lemon juice, olive oil, and herbs for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
