  • 2 packages refrigerated crescent rolls (8 oz each)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure it is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, divided
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or almond extract
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz) Alternatively, you can use homemade pie filling.

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar For glaze
  • 2-3 tsp milk Adjust for desired consistency.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Unroll one package of crescent rolls and gently press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, sealing the perforations to create a solid sheet of dough.
  • In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup of powdered sugar together until smooth.
  • Add the egg and vanilla or almond extract, mixing until well combined.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent roll layer in the dish.
  • Spoon the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese mixture.
  • Unroll the second package of crescent rolls and lay it over the cherry filling, pinching the seams together.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and the filling is set.
  • Let cool completely in the pan.

Glazing

  • For the glaze, whisk together 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 2-3 teaspoons of milk until smooth.
  • Drizzle over the cooled coffee cake.
  • Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Best served warm or at room temperature. Consider adding a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top or pairing it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
