Ingredients
  

For the Garlic

  • 8-10 cloves garlic cloves Peeled and roasted
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For roasting garlic
  • 1 pinch salt For roasting garlic

For the Garlic Butter Custard

  • ½ cup butter, melted (113g)
  • 1 each egg Large egg
  • ¼ cup milk (60g)
  • ½ tsp salt For seasoning
  • ½ tsp paprika For flavor
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley For added freshness

For the Bread

  • 12 pieces King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sheet Rolls Alternatively, a French baguette of similar size may be used.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese For stuffing the bread
  • to taste Chopped parsley and chili flakes For serving

Instructions
 

Roasting the Garlic

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Peel the garlic cloves and place them on a piece of aluminum foil. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
  • Wrap the foil tightly and roast for 25-30 minutes until soft and golden. Let cool, then squeeze the cloves out of their skins.

Preparing the Garlic Butter Custard

  • In a bowl, mix the melted butter with the roasted garlic, egg, milk, salt, paprika, and chopped parsley.
  • Whisk until well combined.

Assembling and Baking

  • Place the Hawaiian rolls or baguette on a baking sheet.
  • Cut each roll partially through to create pockets, but do not cut all the way through.
  • Pour the garlic butter custard evenly into each pocket, ensuring the roasted garlic and parsley are well distributed.
  • Generously fill each pocket with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the assembled bread for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.

Notes

For a stronger garlic flavor, feel free to add more roasted garlic. A variety of cheeses such as cheddar or parmesan can also be used for a unique twist. For a crispy top, broil the bread for the last few minutes of baking.
