Apple Sauce
A delicious and versatile dish made with apples, perfect as a side or ingredient in various recipes.

- 3 pieces gala apples, peeled, quartered, cored, and sliced thinly Use fresh, ripe apples for the best flavor.
- 1/4 cup caster sugar / superfine sugar Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
- 2 tbsp sherry vinegar
- 50 g unsalted butter Approximately 3 ½ tablespoons.
- 1 pinch salt

- Place sugar in a medium saucepan over low heat. Shake the pan to spread the sugar evenly. Leave it for a few minutes until the edges start melting and turning golden. Swirl the pan to encourage even melting. Be careful not to stir.
- Once the sugar is completely melted, add the sliced apples and sherry vinegar. Mix the ingredients and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the apples are soft.
- Add the unsalted butter to the mixture. Stir until the butter is mostly melted. Then, use a stick blender to blitz the sauce until it is smooth.
- Serve the apple sauce warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Store apple sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator, lasting about one week. It can also be frozen for up to three months. Experiment with spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for added flavor.
