Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.

For the crumb topping

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation and Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk until well combined.
  • Fold in the diced apples and pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the brown sugar, oats, 1/4 cup flour, and melted butter until crumbly. Sprinkle this mixture over the cake batter.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  • Serve your delicious apple crumb cake warm or at room temperature, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • For a special touch, drizzle with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon.
