Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar Increase to 1/2 cup for a sweeter cornbread.
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix sour cream, milk, and melted butter until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch square baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, paired with butter and honey or alongside stews. For extra flavor, mix in shredded cheese or jalapeños. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or freeze for up to three months.
