French Dip Sliders

Ingredients:

  • 16 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 oz packet of au jus mix (with 3 cups of water for the sauce)
  • 1/4 cup mayo
  • 1 pound deli pastrami or roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 9 slices mild provolone cheese
  • 2 tbsp melted unsalted butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, placing the bottoms in a baking dish.
  3. In a pan, sauté sliced onions in olive oil and butter until caramelized. Add sugar for sweetness.
  4. Spread mayo on the bottom half of the rolls, followed by a layer of pastrami or roast beef.
  5. Top with caramelized onions and provolone cheese slices.
  6. Place the top half of the rolls and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle sesame seeds.
  7. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and tops are golden.
  8. Prepare au jus sauce according to package instructions.
  9. Slice into individual sliders and serve with au jus sauce for dipping.
