  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. can skinless/boneless pink salmon, drained
  • 2 T. diced onion
  • Good pinch each of salt and pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 T. buttermilk
  • 2 T. cornmeal
  • 4 T. all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Salmon Mixture:
    • In a bowl, combine drained canned salmon, diced onion, salt, pepper, egg, buttermilk, cornmeal, and all-purpose flour. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form Patties:
    • Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties. The size can vary based on your preference.
  3. Heat Oil for Frying:
    • In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot before adding the patties.
  4. Fry the Salmon Patties:
    • Carefully place the patties in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Drain Excess Oil:
    • Once fried to perfection, place the patties on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve the Old Fashioned Salmon Patties while they’re still warm. They pair well with tartar sauce, lemon wedges, or your favorite dipping sauce.
