Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup thinly sliced onion
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cooking sherry (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, pepper, seasoned salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the beef broth and sherry (if using). Bring to a simmer and cook, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan, until the gravy thickens, about 3 minutes.
- Season with seasoned salt to taste.
- Return the cooked patties to the pan and heat through, about 1 minute per side.
- Serve the hamburger steaks with the onion gravy and enjoy!
