Cherry Cheese Coffee Cake

Ingredients

For the Coffee Cake:

  • 2 packages (8 oz. each) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
  • 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling (or any fruit pie filling)

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tsp. milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Unroll one package of crescent rolls and lay flat in the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking pan, pinching seams together.
  2. In a mixing bowl, blend cream cheese, powdered sugar, egg, and extract until smooth. Spread evenly over the crescent roll layer.
  3. Top with cherry pie filling.
  4. Unroll the second package of crescent rolls and place over the cherry layer, pinching seams together.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Mix powdered sugar and milk to create the glaze. Drizzle over warm cake.

Cook Notes

  • Substitute cherry pie filling with any fruit pie filling of your choice.
  • Allow the cake to cool slightly before adding the glaze for a thicker consistency.

Variations

  • Chocolate Cherry: Add chocolate chips to the cherry layer for a decadent twist.
  • Lemon Cream: Use lemon pie filling instead of cherry for a citrusy flavor.

Keto Version

Substitute crescent rolls with almond flour dough and use a sugar-free pie filling and sweetener instead of powdered sugar.

Low-Carb Version

Use low-carb pastry dough and a low-sugar fruit filling. Replace powdered sugar with a suitable low-carb sweetener.
