Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 lbs beef tips
- 2 tablespoons salad oil
- 3 cups water
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons water
Directions
- In a large pot, heat the salad oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef tips and brown on all sides.
- Add the sliced onion and cook until softened.
- Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour or until the beef is tender.
- Mix cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of water to make a slurry. Stir into the pot to thicken the gravy.
- Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until the gravy reaches the desired consistency.
Cook Notes
- Adjust the seasoning to taste, and feel free to add more water if the gravy becomes too thick.
- For a richer gravy, substitute some of the water with beef broth.
